Sitting in silence
watching the sun setting
as Mom struggles to see
one more sunrise
I wonder what it must feel like
to watch a sun set
and to fall asleep
wondering if you will wake
to see the sun once again
high above the clouds
I wonder how she must feel
to watch the sun fall below
the never ending horizon
and know that the cancer inside her
grows with every new day
I wonder
when she passes on
and I sit here watching the sun set
if the love I have for her
will grow
like the cancer inside her
with every new day
I wonder
If tonight will be her last sunset
