Description
I have a favorite and formidable little chess opponent who plays the game with me on a regular basis. When she sits across from me and I see her contemplating her next move (the little wheels are ticking) the expression on her face is priceless. That little girl has been playing chess now going on two years. She’s someone to reckon with. That little girl is my 10 year old grand daughter.

1st of all...Excellent Scene/Layout!!.. I too have a chess set of which I made over 15 years ago when I worked in a wood shop...created all the pieces and board from walnut/cherry and oak...Taught all 3 of my sons the game at one point or another and now it sits dormant simply because they kick my A$$ every single time now....thinking I might of taught them too well....lol...Careful George ...you like me might be creating a monster.....

Takes after her Grandpa I see.. Huh? Chess is loads of fun.. I used to play at near Master level.. 1600-1800 ranking. But haven't played in almost 15 years. Anyway, very cool image and tell Maria to keep plugging away at it. It will payoff in the long run in developing mental skills useful later in life outside of chess. I learned the game of chess a year ago, from a very patient friend. He went over and over the pieces and the moves til I thought I would fall on the floor.. but it finally clicked in, I still have yet to win or come close to winning a game I have a hard time thinking three steps ahead, funny though I can do that with regular tasks but not in chess. My daughters also both play in fact my youngest, was in a chess league in school in the third grade I thought that was impressive... Love the image and can just see the two of you there together.
