Description
Sir Ghislaine was a knight-errant, constantly roaming throughout the realm looking for adventures and tests of courage to prove himself. He heard tell that there was a troll terrorizing the forests of Umbresia and so he set off to that land. The troll was said to roam the forests on foggy nights of the full moon, and so Sir Ghislaine set out to find this terror, choosing his mighty war hammer to fell the beast. The courageous knight-errant indeed found his quarry, but was much surprised that the wily troll had a hammer too...a bit mightier than his own! The question is whose hammer will strike home first?
As I attempted to illustrate this story, the image was just not popping out like I had hoped until I started playing with some filters and found this one which produced a result that reminded me of the sketches in old books of myth and legend that I used to read as a kid. These were images sketched in pen or pencil that illustrated climatic moments in lives of legendary characters or mythological creatures, and I think this scene is reminiscent of those. I hope you like it too!
Thanks for looking and for your comments and favorites, they are a great source of encouragement for this artistic knight-errant!

Great stuff. The filter really makes this look special

It turned out great. First thought was this looks like it is from an ancient book illustrating a story. Like a silver plate. Good work with the filters!
Savage_dragon
Hey... didn't I nail you with that hammer once? Lmao! I really like what you did with the filters. ")

This is very well done. Good choice for the filter, it does give the look of the old style illustrations - almost like an etching. Given the context of the story, it works very well. As to which hammer will strike first - I'm hoping for Sir Ghislaine! (though the troll is probably just misunderstood and would probably stop his forest terrorising ways after suitable counselling...) :-)

Hammer Time...well, I couldn't help myself...LOL and would have probably been a better title ! The B&W filter looks good and really suits the scene, but IMHO the posing seems very stiff, although it does also fit in with those old drawings and style, seeing how that was what you were striving for, so well done ! Christmas ~Cheers~ MArco to you and your family
