Description

Please Zoom! The big one has so much detail!! So, this is for my the most special guy I know. He's been with me through thick and thin, always. His character is a special guy, as well. A sexy berserker in EQ2 who always has a smile for a friend, loves pretty ladies and a good glass of whiskey. A smith too, and like the metal he forges, often too hot to handle. A little of this is from DM's Promenade set.. a bit from The Village Blacksmith. My own morph on the face and I used the muscle morphs for the body, Midnight Prince Hair and the Anvil. Jepe's Wet and tears for the sweat effect, though I have to say I heavily postworked it. Did two renders, one with.. and one without, the copy and pasted what I wanted and played with the opacity to get what I needed. The coals are painted in about eight layers over what looked like pale rocks and wouldn't ever do for this picture. I used a bit of liquify to get the shimmer effect over the coals. Two point lights in the forge area with inverse linear to give that bright glow, two soft points in front of the figure with a short fall off. Fall off I've found is very important with points to give the right effect when doing closed room scenes. If you see anything I can do better, let me know. Thank you all for your comments and critiques. It makes me try harder.. makes me want to do more! Thank you for all your comments and well wishes for the season on my last one..

Holy cow!!! Err...something you could do better? Nothing...unless it is to post MORE of this gorgeous creature!!! I'm thinking perhaps drow elf due to the skin color and eye color? I could be VERY wrong on that...but my goodness, as one of the ladies here on Rendo I tip my hat to you for giving us a handsome guy!!!!

Lovely in full view. The sweat looks superb and your attention to lighting affects has really paid off here. Both the forge fire and the way it plays on his skin is fantastic. In all seriousness I would live a site mail with a bit more detail as to how you set up the forge ligting. The scene is a wonderfull play on lighting and shadow. Here you use bold shadow to great effect to create dimensionality to your image.

Too hot, indeed... Zooming in is a -must-. The sweat details, drool. Even his eyes look wonderful. Your attention to all the small things is what makes this piece work so well, that and the hotness of your character. XDD

You know what? This kicks butt on soooooo many levels, it's amazing! I sat and looked at this for a loooong time, and I just am blown away! Looking at this, I'm reminded very much of the re-forging of Anduril, Flame of the West - Aragorn's sword in LOTR. This is beyond magnificent - my hat is off to you! Now, see, you've given me some excellent information here - I've never really played with the fall-off on point lights. Now I'll be up 'till midnight again! LOL! Seriously excellent art, Delaney! Wow!

I'm still struck dumb by the awesomeness of this. It's a pretty surreal experience finally meeting the character that you've given a voice off and on for two years. I'm really not all that special. You're the special one, Delaney.
