Description

Another failed attempt at flowing water in Vue. I'm experimenting with hypertextures for the splashes with disappointing results. My rule: 2D painted overlay postwork is forbidden. So I'll keep trying. Thanks for looking!

Well, I can see what you were trying with the water, but the rest of it really is beautiful.

Yes, stick to that rule, when it's the objective. I like it when someone tries to solve a problem, and persists! Not too bad here - if the colouring was right, then it would look great, but there's some blueish tint that doesn't work. I don't know what you've already tried with the materials, but check the diffuse colour (make it white or pale grey) and the murky settings ("fade out colour" and "light colour"), if any of these are responsible for the blueish tint, make it pale grey (boring, but it may do the trick). Nice stone work as usual.

Still the water is quite good! If you want splashes without post work you must make the splashes with geometry..or, paint it with projective painting (zBrush, 3D coat, Bodypaint style) before rendering! Stonework is fabulous as always.

Maybe so on the water effects but it certainly "does not" take anything away from the entire scene...I've been waiting and wondering when you might get around to a arch type stone bridge...Excellent Work Butch! Photobucket

beautiful stonework - I'm just getting into Vue and do not know anything about water - and have not yet been impressed with Vue water (but very impressed with object rendering, atmosphere, and lighting). About the water, the only thing that I can think of is to place dark rocks and dark river bed and to have a transparent water surface (modeled) above that (I have zero modeling skills - so please take my advise with a big grain of salt).
