A few weeks ago I was wondering around down town Joburg with some friends who attended a photography session We were looking for opportunities to jump our way – and that is where I met Thomas I asked him for a few minutes of his time and started chatting to him about his life on the streets of Joburg He told me pretty much his whole life story Thomas is basically a cripple – he lost his left leg, as he put it *old war injury* and his right is pretty useless, and he it totally reliant on his walking aid He is 89 years old and his only company is his trusted pooch which is totally blind, and between the two of them they keep each other company What was most intriguing was the fact that he is such a humble Man, and the manner in which he carried himself. His dignity was totally intact and he spoke with such passion. He also mentioned he is totally clean of any form of drugs and does not smoke or touch any alcohol I could carry on with his story the whole day, but I am sure His face tells it all.
