Description

Dear Santa, There is so much snow this year and the temperature is so cold. All the shelters are full and I have no family so I have nowhere to go to get warm. I have no money, no food and no warm clothes or shoes. In the warm months I can sleep under the bridge, I can panhandle for money for food and I don't need much for clothes. There are many homeless people that face danger everyday but even more so in the winter. One of the guys got rolled last week because he got a good money donation from someone, but he was seen counting it by some of the neighborhood gangs, so they beat him till he was nearly dead and took the money. None of us have phones so we couldn't call 911 to help him and because we are dirty no store will let us come inside to use the phone or bathroom. Sometimes they call the police if we simply stand in front of a warm grate in front of their store. The life of a beggar isn't a pretty one, most people are afraid of us and turn their back to us or push past us in a hurry. Sure there are some of us that are crazy, some of us are violent, some of us are thieves, but alot of us are just homeless because of life changing situations that are out of our control. Some of us have children. Some of us just need a hand up to be able to get back to a productive life. I don't care for myself you know, but if I could have one Christmas wish it would be this.. If you could find some way to help some of the good people out here I know it would be greatly appreciated. There was this thing they called the 'American Dream' and we all learned about it in school. But there are hundreds of thousands of people who never even got close to their dream...then there are those who achieved it abundantly but won't share. They won't even share education on how to make your dream come true without having to pay for it. I don't mean to speak so badly about them, it just seems so unfair. I'm sure the circumstances are the same in other countries so I am writing this for them too. If you could find a way to just make sure the children are not hungry, a way to give them hope for their future, a way to let them know they are loved it would be a most wonderful Christmas. Thank you for whatever you can do for all those in need, you will be repaid ten fold by the light of love that shines bright from their eyes. Love, Me My dearest friends, I have a new monitor now so I will return to my life story after the first of the year. I came to this amazing Renderosity site on Jul 9, 2005 as ShadowsNTime. (Alex joined me here December 2005) I was here briefly prior to that under another name. Some of the friends I had then followed me to my new account and many more are friends now. Shadows N Time username came about because I had been stalked on the net and so I wanted to be in the shadows as it were, and because of a piece I did called Shadow, that of a woman hiding behind a web. The web, an apophysis image in black and white, represented a veil, thus semi hiding the womans face. (she can also be seen in Dark Moon~Vampires Lament) N Time meant that 'in time' I would reveal myself, and I have to many on a personal level and most friends here know me as Lynn. I can't believe that I have been here 5 plus years (6 years in July 2011) tho there were times due to health and other life lessons that I was unable to post or stay in touch with friends. The latest absence was due to monitor problems, but thanks to my daughter I now have a new monitor and wireless setup, so when I am ill I can still email etc. while I am lying down. Thats a pretty kewl thing! But even kewler than that is the awesome family here at Renderosity. It's for the 'friends' that I am still here as often as I can be. And so its for the 'friends/family' that I write this letter today. Those who know me well know that I am mostly an apophysis artist, but in January 2008 I got my little digital camera and am doing fairly well in that as well. I love my camera, lol! and take it everywhere with me. And I love all of you, my friends here and thank you with every fibre of my being for all the love you have shared with me. I wish you the happiest season of Light and bountiful blessings now and thru the New Year. Thank you for the many emails, cards and gifts I have received, please know I loved them all, I just was unable to reciprocate. Alex sends his thanks and love as well. I didn't want to put a damper on the season by being my usual mouthy self, thus the letter to Santa. Just a gentle reminder that there are some who have nothing but themselves to share. Thanks for reading and I'll see you soon I promise! From our hearts to yours, lots of love, Lynn and Alex

Lynn, you did a wonderful job on this moving Christmas dedi and really helped to put this holiday season into perspective. So often we worry about gifts, dinners and other things that have little importance when compared to the people who are in need around us. This is the time when we need to focus on those most in need in the community we live in and also on the little animals who are cold and helpless too.

wow Lynn, wonderful history here, I appreciate the revelations. I owe you a letter & you'll get one soon. Your upload is wonderful, for the reminder of how many people have little & that they should be remembered all the days of the year; and for your own thoughts and history here. I know this has been one hell of a year, and I know it was hard for you to connect with people through some of these trials. But I'm grateful for all the times you did, both in my life & in others'. Amazing history of your place & sitename here (my "anahata.c" is much simpler & less exciting!), and I'm glad you have a monitor, and I hope you're doing well over all, Lynn. You'll hear from me, but let me say here that I wish you a deep & loving holiday and a 2011 that shines in ways you can't imagine; and that all you've sought comes to brilliant fruition. Many thanks to Alex for being the 'other half', and for all he's contributed, and all the ways he's helped & supported your life through these last years. I wish a wonderful holiday to you both. It's great to see you here...I hope we all have the blessing of seeing you here more, in 2011. Have a blessed holiday, Lynn!

Beautiful words and sentiment, Lynn. Like many, I give some of my time and resources to those in need, but not as much as I should. "A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi That goes for the individual too. It is lovely to see a post from you! I'm so glad that you have a monitor again! Many blessings of joy and light during the holiday season, and throughout the new year.

As always, this is a fantastic and heartfelt piece of writing; it oozes and pops (in all of the best possible ways) with warmth and honest compassion; this is one of the many hallmarks of a great writer; to make a reader care, to give a moment's pause to the hustle and bustle of life, and to leave a reader (or a viewer, or listener) with something to think about! That's art, and you've created so much of it and you continue to do so...and now, with a new monitor, no less! How cool is that!?!?! I love this piece, and I'm glad I saw it. Now I have to go back to the other gems I know I've missed, but rest assured, I will...it's kind of one of those moral imperatives I embrace so easily! I agree with myrrhulz and Ghandi in the observation that a culture can be judged by the way it treats its weakest members, and I agree, as well, that individuals can be judged by the same standards. Not everyone can do "the right thing" in helping fight poverty, or any other societal malady, but there are times when doing "Something" is all that matters...and you've pointed out that fact by simply writing this piece. There's always "more to do" and there's never "enough done" but there's a nice space in between...where people actually DO stop and do something helpful, and for me, I think that artistic expressions that give pause and highlight a true cause are just as valuable as donations of money...you've donated talent, after all...and it makes a difference, no matter how invisible or how unlikely you are to see the chance you've made. But that's what I love about your work...you present things honestly and with grace: a times you dip into pure poetic truth in impressive ways, and that's never a bad thing. Thank you for posting this and for your previous posts as well, and as a particular special someone told me (with a heavy, heavy Russian accent) I hope the new year brings you all of the good things your destiny forgot to give you in 2010. Okay, it was said in a slightly more incomprehensible way, requiring a bit of translation, but that's the translated version...and it's my heartfelt wish, too.

Beautiful letter and thank you so much for reminding people of what really matters, all the time, not just Christmas. Giving even a little, if enough people do it, adds up really quickly and I think people forget that, they give up. It all matters, every day. It's wonderful that you have the equipment to keep doing what matters most to you. Happy New Year!
