Description

Counting down till Christmas.. It might be a white one.... finally -=- Claude wanted to see a little less, so he could see a little more :D I think he was right... -=- Background image is the Boulevard at the beach.... Top left is the "Zieke". A canal created in 1345. Zieke = "ill man". Until the 17th century the road was only for those with lepra.. ! If you did not have it.. but walked there.. you had it.. Down left is the "Bierkade" in de Zuid singelsgracht Bier = beer... Ships bringing beer docked there. The canal was created in 1612. Singel = defensive canal (gracht = canal). You had several canals in a city for transprot.. but one (Singel) for the defence... You'll see that in all cities in the Netherlands.. But Rotterdam called it's 19th century waterways also singels.. confusing This one is in the "The Hague South" (Zuid), which is not the real South. In The Hague the north is were the Northsea is !!! And that is not in the north. A compas does not help you in my city.. Fun for guides like me.. Horror in the war.. when Allied forces bombarded wrong arreas, becasue they did not know that important fact The image down right is "Zuid Oost Singelsgracht" With the kay on the left called "Uilebomen" Uilebomen = Owl-trees. This was the red light district in the 17th/18th century. Like in Amsterdam (Walletjes=Walls) in the area were the soldiers were.. Women came to them to ease them through the night.. But kids there could not sleep and asked their parents.. what is the noise... "sleep" said the parents.. you only hear owls in the trees.. therefor the name of that street/ Grin.. one of the legends of The Hague

Great photos of your snowy town. Beautiful lighting. The bottom, and two photos of the canal, very well placed enough ... a meeting between two types of communication channels. The photograph at the bottom left adds nothing to the beauty of the top three combined, and disturbs the eye can not focus on your choice of departure .... In addition you unbalance your collage.
