On Aviation and Photography:
"You haven't seen a tree until you've seen its shadow from the sky." -- Amelia Earhart
“You don't take a photograph, you make it.” - - Ansel Adams
UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

The warm grays are beautiful; wonder what the story is? Smuggling? Fishing? Very thought-provoking...

A beautiful seascape and I like how you have taken it through the branches to give it a different dimension.

When I lived in the Czech Republic, I'd occasionally see leafless trees (or as Pavl called them, "trees with haircuts") and I'd see the outlines of rivers and tributaries and all of that good stuff. I see the same thing here: like a map of some exotic place with two rivers springing from a common source, but racing away in opposite directions. Well, that's how I see it anyway, but nobody ever said that I see things in a normal way. At any rate, I like this a lot and I feel a real sense of calm looking at it. I love the "river patterns" of those branches, and the way they also look as if both trees are reaching for each other but not quite connecting...yet. It kind of reminds me of the situation I have with a particular person way the heck over in Russia...all of that reaching, but there's still some space in between, filled with emails! This is a gorgeous photograph, and I love the mood of it. I get the sense of both yearning and contentment, mostly contentment. And the little background details are amazing: the distant landscape, the boat, the bird...it all works together in a perfectly-orchestrated way. Marvelous. And I love the monochrome aspect: it's deliciously stark, but far from cold.

Although I didn't see Chip's rivers, I did see the trees reaching for each other, and that was the first rondezvous I noticed. The second was the meeting of bird and boat, and perhaps of bird droppings and fishermen's heads. Not romantic I know, but there you have it. So softly beautiful in mono!

You know, when I saw the title and looked at this for a few seconds, I tied it in exactly the same way Tara did - trees reaching, bird and boat meeting. I think Tara and I are on the same cosmic plane tonight. Except for the bird poop... That's all yours, Tara! LOL! Anyway, it's a lovely image, Bill, and monochrome is a perfect choice for this reflective piece of art!

This expresses to me, that spring is almost on it's way, waiting for the kiss of the sun to touch each other, when the fresh new leaves appear and bring the branches closer together ... time to dream and make that dream come true; a lovely and so cool mood image Bill, BB

There is a lot of depth to this, Bill. Perfect in monochrome, Clive
