Description

Poiana che volteggia nel cielo di Bozzano ,sopra le acque del lago di Massaciuccoli in cerca di prede, a distanza molto elevata per il mio Canon 70-300 . La qualità non è massima , ma credo valesse la pena. Buzzard circling drafts, over the waters of Lake Massaciuccoli in search of prey, a greater distance for my Canon 70-300. The quality is not up, but I think it was worth. The Common Buzzard (Buteo Buteo, Linnaeus 1758) is a bird of prey typical of Europe. It has a typical length between 51 and 57 cm with a wingspan from 110 to 130 cm, making it a medium-sized predator. Its habitat covers most of Europe and extends into Asia. He lives in all areas except in the coldest. He prefers the woods, but they usually hunt in open areas. He eats mainly small mammals and sometimes, carcasses of animals (carrion). The hawks have long been among the most hunted and poisoned birds throughout Great Britain. For some decades are increasing in number and are spreading east from their previous strongholds west. Generally do not travel in flocks, but may be seen together during a migration or in good habitat. The Victorian writer William Crossing said they saw groups of 15 or more in some places. The call is a querulous pious-eeh. Morphology Raptor is a compact form with large, rounded wings and a tail rather short. The color is dark brown on top and bottom very variable, usually the lower surface of the wings is blackish brown a little bar with dark spot on your wrist and light shaded area in the center, while the tail has many thin dark bars. In flight the head is sunken between the shoulders and wings are held slightly raised (front profile in the shape of "V" open). Squat is placed flush with the head between his shoulders. Reproduction The buzzard is a single nest in trees and on rocks isolated. The female usually lays 2 or 3 (rarely 1 or 4) eggs in the nest between March and May. The eggs are white with gray or brown speckles. Hatching usually takes 34 days, and alternate both males and females. The young remain in the nest for the next 40-50 days [1]. Ecology The buzzard is generally undemanding, attended semi-wooded areas with alternating areas of mostly herbaceous vegetation in areas where hunting and tree line dominant in places where the nests. In mountainous regions such as Valle d'Aosta is also playing frequently on cliffs, usually not going above the upper limit of forests. Campaigns trees are particularly favorable to the species, which fits better than other birds of prey to environmental change caused by man. Behavior The limited ecological requirements make it the most common diurnal bird of prey in the Alps and spread on a straight medium-low, with large reproductive territories also only a few square kilometers. It is easy to see placed on poles and isolated trees, from which practice hunting by stalking. Cleverly exploits the updrafts, spinning a long time without flapping its wings; regional flights are characterized by an alternation of short and sharp peak at half-closed wings lift. Similar species The Honey Buzzard (Pernis apivorus), present in Italy only from May to September, is different from Buzzard to have slightly longer wings and tail, and especially for the small head and prominent, in flight their wings are held horizontal. The livery is very variable, but the tail bands 2-3 basal and always has a dark terminal band. It feeds on large insects, and especially of social Hymenoptera (dig the soil to reach the nests of wasps and bumblebees), more rarely small vertebrates little furniture. Good day and good week Thanks for the comments and the favourites of previous image.

Mario, questa è una splendida foto il mio amico. Non c'è niente di più bello di un uccello in volo, anche se si tratta di una poiana. Grazie per aver condiviso il tuo talento con noi.
