My mother wanted "When the Saints Go Marching In" sang at her funeral. And it was, almost New Orleans style. Your post caught me by surprise at first. Blessings to all.

A very touching tribute to your father Cheryl. Wonderful collage of memories. I find it is much healthier when families do things such as you said, to celebrate the life of the person who passed instead of just focusing on the loss. In a celebration like you described it can help move happy and good memories to the forefront and diminish the feelings of loss and depression.

I prefer very much how you did it. As if you swing your father very happy, and say goodbye. The joy that he is now where everything is without load, and pain; but there where only is love and joy. God bless, my dear friend. A very touching dedi, Cheryl ♥

My mother-in-law had a love affair with shoes all of her life. before she was bedridden with lung cancer, she lived in a 16 foot trailer. The bed was a mattress tossed on a platform of shoe boxes. She had 66 pairs of new shoes still in the boxes! She told me she wanted her ashes scattered in the potted plants inside the PayLess Shoe store where she used to buy her shoes for so many years. Needless to say, the manager of the store was not pleased about us doing that so we still have her with us. Then her daughter and son-in-law died and I was in charge of their remains. I got 2 containers and put half hers and half his in each container, gave one to my brother-in-law's family and the other is next to my mother-in-law. One day I will take them to Texas with me and scatter their ashes from a friend's shrimp boat. (Both my mother- and sister-in-law were originally from Bacliff and moved out to California about the same time I did.)

I love Mrs. Lubner's comment. The ashes are divine and are more personal in the affair of loss. Such passages in life we must undergo. The best to you!

Wonderful and heartfelt celebration of his life. Beautiful collage. Two of the three bands are familiar to me and one has fond memories of my dad. He liked Marty Robbins. One day my sister came up to him, encircled his waist with her arms and sang. "All day I face the Barron waist" (my maiden name is Barron).
