Description

I was recently test-flying this small model helicopter for indoor use. It flies quite well and hovers reasonably - so much so, I couldn't resist a quick photo of it in flight. The flash has whited some of the image and the shutter speed appears to have frozen the rotor blades in mid-rotate - but I can confirm, they were going round at the time. :-) Overall, I was pleased that the picture came out at all as I was holding the camera in one hand and attempting to control the helicopter with the other. If ever there was a case for having three arms . . . . ------------------------------------------ Original Photograph 20-Dec-2010

Those things are fun. The only downside I've found is often once you get the fine tuning worked out, the battery is needing to be recharged. (Unless micro-helis have improved a lot in the last 3 years or so.) Also if the controller is anything like the one I had, taking out the spring on the throttle one makes it a lot easier to handle. Flash lighting in the pic looks a little harsh though, but I guess it's needed if your goal was to freeze it in flight.
