I was at this party for christmas and they had all types of sweet stuff to eat.
I got a red velvet cake which I love and a carrot cake too as I love them too. Plus I got some more sweets as you see there. All these was store bought and what got me was they all taste the same. is it me or is they makeing the cakes with the same stuff and it comes out the same.
I have walked into bakery before and saw all types of goodies and i buy differ bake stuff and I ate them and they all taste the same. I know what that baker did. he use the same dough and put them in differ shapes and sold them. I been in bary at differ places and i bought a lot of bake stuff and they all taste differ. Why? because that baker took the time to make differ types of dough to make his goodies.
I know it be hard and time wise is not on a lot of people hands. but cakes make at home taqst a lot better

I love both but seldom eat carrot because most restaurants put too much apple pie spices and it gives a bad taste for me tell me what makes a Red Velvet cake,food coloring?the icing of course is mostly cream cheese, but I think the cake mix is just a vanilla cake with red coloring years ago I was in a small town in Mexico and I stopped at a small store to buy a palleta(ice cream bar) and there was a red colored one and I asked the clerk what flavor is this in Spanish of course, and he did not know nor other people in the store.it was delicious so I went on my way, but as red velvet the actual flavor is any ones guess

I wonder how others found the taste? Did they notice? I found at some restaurants that different foods on the menu had tasted the same too. They just changed the name and the coloring. And yet the prices are different.... Aloha

not sure what makes a real red velvet cake. guess have to look it up on google to see the differ ways of makeing it

I looked it up and real red velvet cake is not a vanille cake with food coloring but the one from the store must be.

You are right about all this bland stuff that chain store bakeries crank out for the masses. Your photo turned out quite nicely though. You made the cakes look appetizing!
