Description

This is my version of an image that was originally done by another Renderosity member, sailor ed! sailor ed posted his (THE original) version of this image in a Carrara contest about five years ago (posted 2/22/2005). You can go and see his contest entry in the Carrara archived contests (look for the contest for Underwater, entry #6). His image really struck me as an amazing stroke of creativity and humor and I've never forgotten that particular render. I went to find it in the gallery and I could not locate it. I knew it was in the contests which is the only place I could find it. I don't believe that Sailor Ed posted this in the galleries (formally so to speak). I thought it would be an interesting challenge to try to do it myself and to see what I could cook up using the latest version of Carrara. There isn't really anything magic in this image that a newer version of Carrara can do except for the rocks in the bottom of the tank. Those rocks all happened via my new favorite tool, the replicator. The bubbles were done with a particle fountain. I did add an air stone and hose because I thought it was a tweeny weird to have bubbles without a source. The background is a blurred picture of a bookcase in my apartment. I did put some displacement into the surface of the water which came out Ok. So, thank you sailor ed for such a great image! Please accept my humble version of it. My re-render of this image comes out of my respect and joy of the original! In addition, it was nice motivation to build a cool treasure chest! -Kix

Man that looks super. You have done a really great job, but, you should put somebody in the background with a surprised look on their face.
