I tried also to make a light test...this is no radiosity only some caustics and one spotlight! Rendertime about 2 minutes on aTitanium Powerbook 800x600

I really do not agree with Erik0815Erik, because your caustic-effect is not quite realistic - in fact it looks like a disco ball. Try to increase the number of photons and the sample-size of them. And decrease the energy to reduce the effect - in my opinion it looks too "strong".
