Description

Dinosaur National Monument in Utah has some early petroglyphs or rock engravings that are well over 1,000 years old. These images were chipped into the rock, not painted as pictographs were. Photo taken in the spring of 1996 and scanned. Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

I can see this hunter faced a great bounty. The photo really shows a lot of detail and that is not easy to get. I have a passion of petroglyphs and pictographs. This really is an exciting shot.

I guess 3D graphics was in the future at the time or the artist had perspective problems. Great capture the petroglyphs are in excellent shape considering they've gone through 1000 years of weathering. Would also imagine that the dry climate helps. George

Great clarity, color and texture in this old snap, Dana. I don't know what to interpret from the erstwhile petroglyph carvings. A hunting party of some sort, without weapons?

These always amaze me. I saw petroglyphs in Hawaii, miles of them and they make me wonder who did them and what they were saying.
