Description

Please view full size for details. It had been three days hard travel, but Anna's small band had finally made it to the site of her vision quest. As Callum had foretold, the site appeared to be perfect. It sat on the edge of low cliff overlooking a sweeping vista; it was also endowed with a few gnarled old trees clinging to life. Here was a place where both nature and spirituality seemed to be coming to an end, worn down by the winds of time. And so this place, seemingly at the end of the world, at the end of time, seemed a fitting place to vision a new start. Here the cycle of time was coming full circle, the old was ending and for Anna there would be a new beginning. This was truly a place to connect with the ancestors; the site fairly reeked with power. Anna felt blessed that Callum had chosen this spot for her. But regardless of a site's positive feelings one could not enter into a vision quest blindly trusting that the site was safe. One never knew who had been there before and what dark shadows they may have left behind. This ancient site, though clearly originally elven, as seen by its carvings, had lots of time to have been used by evil as well as good. Anna trusted Millicent to ward of any earthly demons while she was in trance, but her feline companion would be powerless against any malign spirits that might intrude into her dream state. So a purification spell was necessary to cast out any malevolent spirits who may be lurking about and who would welcome the chance to pounce on someone deep in a waking dream state. So Anna cast a spell that had been drilled into her under the adroit tutelage of Lady Larkspar, a spell that she could cast flawlessly, a spell fairly guaranteed to burn the butts off any evil spirit who may be lurking about and intent on causing mischief. This did not mean of course that Anna expected her vision quest to be full of light works, but any darkness that was there was meant to be so; it would be there for her, and not be some cast off baggage left behind from someone else's malevolence. So with her critters in tow, and the sun going down, she slowly paced the site, chanting her casting out spell as she went, making sure to check all the corners that might be cloaking some web of darkness. Her light burnt bright blue casting its purifying rays wherever she went. The site was now cleansed and ready for her work. Anna's outfit is Wildenlander 4 by Luthbel @ Daz Previous

Another brilliant image, Roxy! It has all your hallmarks: the superb lighting and posing, and wonderful post-work that pulls it all together and that brings out the rich textures. The story works perfectly with the image, both enhancing and elaborating on the artwork. I love the way you have combined mythologies here, mixing native and elven lore together into a seamless whole. And of course your choice of blue for the magic light is entirely appropriate. Gotta love those critters, too. Millicent is of course a favorite, since I'm a cat person. Naming your dragon George is a hoot, too. St. George is of course the fellow credited with ridding England of Dragons, so I appreciated your sense of irony as soon as I saw what you had written.

Beautiful imagery and great postwork. Like the concept of clearing the space for the vision quest. It gives a feel of tradition and age to the story.

Beauuutifully done. And looking at the details while reading the story brought it wonderfully to life. I try to build some of my images around a story too, and I get great pleasure when it all comes together. Great scene, and word! These are the posts that keep me coming back for more and more. Thank you so much! =)

Amazing picture. Looking at your work always means a fresh air into my eyes, if you know what I mean... Your imagery, your feel for mysticism, work with colors and general sense for balance in pictures' composition is a true feast for a hungry eye... Vashek

Very dramatic, your contrast of light and dark, color and dark, levels is very well done. There is excitment in this one. The cat's expression does not hurt either.

Yet another fabulous installment. When I see you've posted something in this series, I confess that I follow a routine now: Get a cup of tea, sit in a favorite chair with the laptop, hunker down for a good read and an image that just begs for a person to drink in all the details. And for a few moments anyway, all is right with the world...
