''Pigskin Poison Puffball - Mushroom'' .... EXCELLENT shot! (Reminds T.P. of and old joke): A man was cuffed and taken to police headquarters. His THIRD wife had been found dead. BEATEN to death. The police found out that said hubby's PREVIOUS two wives had died from eating POISONED MUSHROOMS. The cops TRIED to pin the blame for those EARLIER TWO murders on said hubby but could NOT prove it. THEY BOTH COULD have simply eaten the WRONG type o' mushrooms! This time, however, after being GRILLED for HOURS by the cops, said hubby was asked, "WHY did YOU kill your THIRD wife?" FINALLY, said hubby turned BEET RED and SHOUTED: "Because SHE would NOT eat MY POISONED MUSHROOMS!" WINK.

I just love the indiscriminate spreading of spores...especially when they're THAT color! What a shot. I have yet to see--and better yet, hear--a puffball, but I'd love to. This is a fantastic shot, full of wonderful details, and I love the joke you included. This is marvelous. Mushrooms are a BIG deal in the Czech Republic and other parts of central and eastern Europe...there are whole mushroom gathering seasons, and I have it on good authority from friends in that neck of the woods that ALL mushrooms are edible, but some you can only eat once. Don't you just love east-European humor?

Awesome macro of an awesome mushroom! :) Chipka: ALL mushrooms can be eaten more than once, they only have to be regurgitated and sometimes another person has to do the next eating session (if the regurgitation happened too late for the first person), that's all... ;) Seriously, are these really poisonous?
