Welcome to my bio. Guess you are interested who I am and where I get my weird ideas. Well I'm a retired teamster. Yup trucking company for 30 years. No I was not a driver but worked in the office. Had to do dock checks so I remember going out and having to use a pencil since it was sooooo cold ink was freeze..
Started doing Daz as a hobby to keep busy. From there I purchased a printer that can handle 13x19 prints. Have 11 hanging on my walls. Like to change them for the seasons. My favorite of course is Halloween.. I have no art experience or training so its been a long learning process. I am not shy to ask questions to the more experienced. How did you do that? What did you use? This is the way one learns.
Divorced. Living alone with my 2
cats. My 21 year old cat is in pet heaven since 1-14-2011. She led a good, long life with me..
My second love is playing Kingpin Life of Crime, a first person shooter online game. Oldie since it was released back in 1999. First of its kind with all the violence and yes swearing. Just too funny. . My hand/eye isn't what it use to be, but sometimes I win matches...Vita pats herself on the back :)
I was born in 1947 so you figure out my age. But if you tell anyone I'll have to kill you.

I like the image as far as the lamp, I would say it is your camera angle

i would say.. it is a matter of perspective.. the desk seen from the front seems small.. but the tilted mirror shows it's real wide.. I would say it is correct, because one can see the lamp is not 2d size (than it would be close to the mirror.. or into it..

When you downloaded DAZ Studio, you should have also had the chance to download a .pdf user manual. Its not the best manual ever written; hoever, it may be use to help with this problem. In it, there is a section on "surfaces". It may be in tutorial section or as its own chapter or both (sorry, I don't have the manual with me at the moment). In that, there is a bold print section called, "how to make the perfect mirror". Do what is says and your golden. A note, the user manual was written for the beta version of DAZ Studio back in 2005 or so. Certain aspects of the program have changed. Therefore, keep the colors of mirrored surfaces white, black or gray. You'll have to experiment to see what works best for each image. Also, make sure that no reflection maps are applied. Additionally, if you put the mirror in room as in this image, you need to render the whole room, not just what is in view of the virtual camera. That way you see more than just empty space(a fun technique is to put a figure holding a camera behind the virtual camera that you only see a glimpse of it in the mirror reflection but not in the rest of the scene). Also ensure light sources are placed outside of the reflected area, unless you are going for the "paranormal ghost orb in the mirror" effect. I recommend putting the light above the scene. This also helps ensure surfaces (like your furniture) appear in the reflection. Also, don't forget to make sure that at least your brightest light has the shadow on. Usually just one shadow producing light does the trick. Lastly, keep the number reflective surfaces in an image to a minumum as they radicaly increase rendering time. Hope this helps!

Cvrad has a great tutorial about how to do the reflections. Reflections and refractions are interesting and at times frustrating to learn. I wish you luck as I said, talk to cvrad

YEAH!!! Looks wonderful! I would have to agree, it is probably the camera angle that makes the lamp show up the way it does, because the rest of the furnishings and props show up perfectly. So I'd say in a real life situation, the lamp would probably in the same position. Is the mirror fixed or tilted? Maybe the lamp is too close to the mirror? because the hat shows up in the right perspective, but it seems to be closer to the front edge of the dresser. I really have no concrete answer, just throwing things out for you to try. I really think the image looks wonderful. Great work and congrats on finally getting the mirror images to work for you :)

Angle of the mirror is off a bit...try ever so slightly adjusting the POV and it should correct the problem...At least that's what I would suggest...(smile) Still it's a great scene though!
