Description

Captured 1/5/11, late morning, within walking distance of my petulant place. Better viewed full size. Original on top. For some reason or another, there was a vast amount of high flying jet aircraft activity through the period of 12/31/10 to 1/5/11, not only over my immediate area, but also in Sherman Oaks, California, where I also took contrail shots. Given this unique opportunity, I took tons of pics of this phenomenae. As for the above posting, I thought all I had to do was step out in front of my condo complex and snap a bunch of fotos of this sky circus with no problems. Unfortunately, the bulk of the contrails were way off to the southeast, which placed them at a low angle, so in order to get in some decent shots, unobstructed by power poles, lines, trees and structures, I unexpectedly had to walk an unscripted two-mile round trip to have any success at all. Luckily, every so often I would encounter a clearing of sorts from which to capture anything acceptable. Hence, I had left my front door unlocked, was wearing the wrong shoes, and eating up valuable time, just to achieve the near impossible goal of an unobstructed sky. Auf wiedersehen, thankx for clicking on, and for any and all complimentary comments and favs.

Wow, there certainly was a lot of activity over your place and you have caught a great capture of it all, even if you did have to take a long walk. I love all the different versions of it too my favourite being the bottom one with its super colouring.

That IS a lot of activity. If only contrails were this exciting to see. These are all terrific, but the last one is my personal favorite. The plastic wrap is cool looking also.

For some reason they look like trails from meteorites bombarding the earth! Great work capturing this activity, at such peril to your safety and comfort!

Terrific capture and great postwork! Number three is my favorite. Wonderful colors in a world gone seriously awry. Great color and feathery details in the original capture. The second one is not changed so much as to not look real, which makes the dark contrails all the more frightening. I can imagine this on one of those sensationalist magazines at the check out counter, with headlines of aliens attacking Earth. The plastic wrap works well on number four. I like what it does to the twisty contrail. Beautiful colors on the last one. It has the look of world reborn after horrific events. (Like the events of number 3) Excellent images!
