Description
This is for Robert, a very spiritual guy who is on the meand from a serious illness. Robert always gives such insightful comments into the symbols and mysticism of my works. And it greatly appreciated.
Some people have asked about a vision quest. A vision quest is strictly speaking a native American spiritual tradition although, as I have done here it has also been adapted by many Wiccan communities. From wikipedia:
In many Native American groups, the vision quest is a turning point in life taken before puberty to find oneself and the intended spiritual and life direction. When an older child is ready, he or she will go on a personal, spiritual quest alone in the wilderness, often in conjunction with a period of fasting. This usually lasts for a number of days while the child is attuned to the spirit world. Usually, a Guardian animal will come in a vision or dream, and the child's life direction will appear at some point

Thanks so much for the dedi, Roxy. It means a lot to me. Having been on my own vision quest, your choice of image here was especially meaningful. Although, I must admit my journey was not nearly so beautiful as Anna's! Vision quests are about finding meaning and new directions, and as such they are full of surprises. I look forward to seeing what surprises Anna finds in her journey. This image is the best you have ever produced, IMHO. And given the quality of your work to date, that's saying a lot! Your use of light, both before and within the post-work, is simply stunning. I continue to love the way you mix cultural traditions here, creating something that is truly original. Your choice of stairs to depict the path is interesting, using the bright white light - with a hint of an angel's wing - to depict understanding is sheer genius, and the lamp you have put into the guide's hand is most intriguing. Shades of Diogenes! Bravo, dear friend! Keep 'em coming!
