Description

Bryce7Pro/DazStudio/Photoshop Inspired by the painting "Asteroid Miner" by James Gurney(creator of Dinotopia),this image began as an exercise in lighting and progressed from there.Figure is Michael3 Base and morphs, with my own character morphing.Skin mat is from the Men Of The Year set,cap and cigar(with original textures)are from the Daedelus Sky Mercenary outfit and the suit is the M3 Spacesuit...all from Daz3D and posed in DazStudio. The suit textures are my own, created by combining a photo texture with a Bryce colour in the diffuse channel. The various set pieces are Bryce creations.A room was created with four walls, roof and floor due to the reflective quality of the helmet visor glass(I needed a believable room reflecting in the glass). All textures are from CGTextures.Six radial lights with moderate falloff and soft shadows provide the light for the scene.Rendered in Superfine, at 9 rays per pixel, the image took 14 hours to render.Postwork in Photoshop involved a slight level boost, dirt on the figure's face, cigar smoke, lettering on suit and wall, signature and resizing. Thanks for taking the time to view, and any comments you wish to leave!

Excellent work! I love the suit texture and the reflection in the helmet. I bet it was the helmet and the six lights that cost you all that render time.

Great character and superb work on the textures and lighting. I hope he remember to put out his cigar before donning his helmet!

Really fine job here! You've certainly captured the grimy, grungy atmosphere of what must be, or will one day become, a really nasty job. Congrats on a wonderful offering.
