Description

There is a nice legend behind that pic... Some hundred years ago, the people from Uri (in Switzerland) wanted to build a bridge over the "Schoellenenschlucht" (Schlucht=Canyon) between Andermatt and Goeschenen (nearby the Gotthard), but they can't. So one of them said: "Then the devil should build a bridge!" After these words were spoken, the devil came and said: "I will build these bridge, but the first soul that crosses the bridge will belong to me!" But these people were very clever, they send a goat over the bridge. The devil wasn't very pleased, but he never said that it have to be a human soul... A really great story. That's why these bridge is called: Devil's Bridge.

The devil needs a better attorney. Which is strange because I'm sure plenty of them are on his side. lol They could make an iron clad contract for him, but now he's stuck with the goat. Great story and illustration!
