Once upon a time in the far distant future, or past, (does is really matter as far as fairy tales go?), their lived a peaceful and technolically advanced race of beings that had become disillusioned with their culture at large. They tried in vain to prevail upon the ruling powers to change their ways and adopt a more harmonious symbosis with the cosmos. They failed. A small group from this race determined to secretly find sancturary where they could live according to the harmony their hearts desired. They searched their known universe and discovered a planet that spoke to their hearts. It was in the most remote distant edges of their universe. They separated from he rest of their race and set up their colony knowing they would most likely never see any of their friends or relatives again. Initially, they used their technology to create their kingdom. They designed it to blend in with the local population that inhabited the planet. They had no intention of disturbing the native race since it was small in number and posed no threat. Their goal was only to achieve the best harmony they could with their environment. They set up their kingdom in a well protected valley surrounded by a most magical type of rocky hills. It had many psychic powers as well that seemed to call out to them. They instituted a dual monarchy to establish rule and order over themselves and elected the first two ruling families by popular vote. Once their their kingdom was established, they put away their advanced technology and kept it secret and well hidden in the two mighty castles that were erected for the monarchies. Knowledge of this technology was passed down to each succeeding monarch. It was declared this knowledge could never to be used except in the case of attack by hostile invaders. For several thousands of years, they lived in harmony on this planet. They had fully followed their heart's dictates and took counsel with the earth before making any decisions that might harm their symbiosis. The rewards were immense both psychologically and mentally. Unfortunately, life is a cyclical process. The fine intentions and examples set by all the previous generations are about to be disrupted by a very small number of corrupt individuals that can only think of themselves and their own selfish gain.
