Description

No walk on the pier would be complete without a surfer shot or two. This guy was paddling out to wait for his next ride.

What a shot. It looks like you might have strapped yourself to the bottom of a really big seagull in order to get this shot. I love the POV! The light and the color is fantastic. I don't know if you realize this, but getting water that color is actually more difficult than it seems, and you nailed it. In too many cases, it just comes out gray and murky looking, but here you can actually see the rich variations in color. THAT takes a great eye and a great sense of POV. I like this shot a lot too, especially since now I'm imagining scores of photographers strapped to the bellies of giant seagulls, snapping away at surfers going out to catch their next rides. Hmmm...I wonder if there's a story in that?

Great color and light in this one! Very nice and lucky dog for him as the weather must be warm enough to surf. I love Chip's comment about strapping yourself to a seagull, it is a really interesting POV.

LOL @ Chip! At first I thought it was a seal or a whale, then I realized I was looking at a surfer in a wetsuit...doh! Wonderful subtle tones in this capture!
