Description

Daeron syn, the dark wolf of Melnibone A principal character from a Hawkmoon campaign, a variant of the RPG Stormbringer, set in the “Tragic Millennium Earth” of Michael Moorcock’s novels. H3-3 – How could you betray me: “How could you betray us… betray ME!” Lysabeth ranted, straining against the restraints that bond her naked body to the depraved torcher machine that held Nykira only moments ago. “It seems your charms are not as mesmerizing as you think”, Syn mocked the unmasked Granbretan noblewoman, as his eyes roamed across her slender figure with a dispassionate gaze. “This world is a strange and alien place,” he continued, turning his gaze to Edwar, who was held in the mechanical grasp of another of his own implements of torment. “But you are no better than the Mabden of my world. Mere humans who ape the glories of Melnibone which they cannot grasp! Your Dark Empire is but a twisted shadow of our Bright Empire, and your madness is what the Mabden would have wrought on my world… if we were not there to keep them in their place.” “Still,” he turned back to Lysabeth. “I would have shared with you ever secret of sorcery known to me. Not for your persuasions,” he smiled slyly as his eyes roamed over her naked form again, “but to find passage back to my world. It is the Lawful nature of this plane that corrupts your mind so that you cannot grasp what I tried to teach you.” “Mere humans,” Edwar raged, overcoming his horror at being bare-faced before his former captives. “We are Granbretan… The supreme race of this world! It is not madness… It is our destiny to stand above lesser men.” “You don’t look so supreme to me,” Nykira taunted, as she stood over him and looked down his naked form with an expression of amused disappointment when her eyes lingered between his spread legs; her own nudity seemingly of no concern to her, although its effects on him were quite evident. “Enough of this,” Syn motioned to Nykira and she returned to her place at the counsel that controlled Lysabeth’s torcher machine, while Tarl stood ready at the one that commanded Edwar’s. “There must be a way off of this isle… and you will tell us how.” The screams of father and daughter echoed off the cold stone walls, as they learned first-hand the torments they had inflicted on so many others. A self-exiled renegade, disgusted with the decadence and apathy that left his race in drug induced dreams of lost glories, Syn is a throw back to ancient times when the Dragon Lords of Melnibone ruled the world from the backs of dragons. Cruel, amoral and without humanity, his race was born to sorcery and sworn to Chaos. Cast onto the Tragic Millennium Earth by a sorcerous trap laid by his Mabden nemesis Dregolath Xorn, Syn found himself before the place of King-Emperor Huon of Granbretan, likely the place of greatest Chaos on the Lawful dominated plane. Captured by the Mantis order Imperial Guard, he was given into the care of Baron Edwar of Kanbery, a nobleman of the Skull order, and his sorcerer-scientist daughter, Lysabeth, to learn the secrets of his sorcery. However, he soon discovered that the Lawful nature of the Tragic Millennium Earth not only weakened his spells and bond demons, but prevented its natives from comprehending he Chaotic concepts of sorcery. But, when Edwar chose to use a capture Norman noblewoman and warrior, Nykira Ammath, as an example of the Dark Empire’s normal “hospitality” in a final effort to convince him to reveal his secrets, Syn turned the tables on his captures, freeing their prisoners and leaving them at the mercy of their own mechanized torcher devices. Fleeing Granbretan in stolen Falcon Legion masks, Syn, Nykira and the Viking, Tarl Bloodhawk, have been pursued across Europe by the dreaded “Deathstalkers”, Skull order warriors charged with capturing the enemies of the Dark Empire, who have orders to slay anyone who learns they escaped Granbretan’s “justice”.
