Description

Thank you for stopping by. all your views and comments are greatly appreciated. I'm always amazed with this style of art as it changes on a daily or weekly basis. Wiki: Urban art sometimes known as graffiti is a style of art that relates to cities and city life often done by artists who live in or have a passion for city life. The term urban means "from the city". Sometimes Urban art is called "street art". The style of this art is mostly cartoon based, and sometimes realistic. The art is sometimes viewed as vandalism and destruction of property. Even though sometimes this form of art leads to vandalism it can be useful. The band Gorillaz uses a urban art style to promote their band. The band members are animated in a graffiti style. This style has also been used by many bands recently, promoting their band for little to no costs to them, but in general urban art is expressed at the neighborhood level, sometimes called "hoods" or the "ghetto" where a lot of people of different cultures live together.

Well this is definitely in the 'art' end of the continuum.

I love stuff like this. I'm not a fan of all urban art, but I find that most of it provides a unique comfort. If I see it, I'm reminded that other people live around me, that I'm actually IN a living city. Some of it (like this) is intriguing and tells a story, no matter how subjectively! This tells a story, and definitely implies artists and fellow art viewers all connected at this single point. I love that element of urban art...you don't have to go to a museum to see it, you don't have to set time aside for it. It's simply there and sometimes it's even unobtrusive. In this case, it's grabbing and strangely cryptic. I love the odd symbolism I can make out...The head of John the Baptist(?) held by...a...rabbit!? WOW! And then to top it all off, YOU captured it so well. This is really marvelous.
