Description

Wanted to try out my new lens (Canon ef70-200mm f4L) along with my 1.4 teleconverter to see if it would be a lighter weight alternative to my 400mm lens. It was a really overcast day so I'll have to keep experimenting. I know it's a rather boring shot, but the only other bird I came across was a hawk which I have posted a few lately so I settled on this mallard.

I love mallards with their beautiful coloring, and this is a great shot of this guy.

looks okay in my view.....and overcast is not always handy......still a nice shot...I know about the weight I use also the 400mm and a 500mm lens..it can be very heavy if you caring it a whole day....

Be interesting to see if you can still achieve the same sharpness in your images with the converter. This one lacks the normal crispness of your shots. I just wonder if it's the tele converter effect?

That is pretty good detail for a converter shot, far better than I would have expected from my bad experience with one. Perhaps the question should be, how much sharpness is really required? There is a softness of light and color in this shot that seems more important to me right now.

You may have lost some light using the converter, but this looks perfect for me and the benefit of lighter equipment can be a huge advantage.
