Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Yup, that would do it! Beautiful mountains as a backdrop for the beach, love the palm trees!

If this landscape was in Europe there would be a gazillion people on the beach. What a pleasure it is to see none crowded beach!!! Your a lucky lady to live there.

With most of the people being rude and self serving. That's what you get with overcrowding. Other than that, ultra fantastic POV, DOF, varied colors, detail and textures in this superlative capture, Marilyn! Looks like a composite of two different worlds, what with the summer-like features in the foreground, and the snow-capped San Gabriel Mountains in the background.

Oh man. I know you're having a fabulous time there, but seeing this ... it's like a weight on my back. You can keep it! (That takes nothing away from the photograph, which is splendid!) The best thing about being at the beach there is looking OUT, and having one's back to the city. I know I joke and say the seven months I spent in SoCal was six months and three weeks too long, but when I see this I remember why I said it in the first place. Aaaggghhhhhh!!!

Gorgeous shot Marilyn. Surfers, beach, palms & snow capped mountains. Who could ask for anything more? Dana

Ooooh...yeah. This is amazing, and for some reason I just had the image of you on a surfboard, taking this shot. And as Judy Tenuta says: Hey! It could happen! Hey wait, were you on a surfboard when you took this shot? I know nothing about surfing but I'd love to try it. Well...I have to learn how to do it first, but I'd love to. Anyway, as I ramble on and on, I suppose I should say something about the shot that's inspired this rambling. So with only a little bit more ado, this is a great shot. I love the composition and the way it all seems a bit layered...kinda onion-like. There are the mountains in the background, and then before them, the seaside buildings and then the palm trees, and finally the beach/sand with people. I love the way this has nothing to do with onions, but it reminds me of one anyway, just because of that layering. Its so rich, each "layer" with its own story to tell and its own personality. Separately, they're fantastic, together they're wonderfully sublime. And to top it off, there's a golden quality to this and that warms me up nicely. This is really great stuff here. Oh yeah, and in case I haven't said so, I like it!
