Description
The Dobro Guitar was invented in the late 1920's by the Dopyera brothers who came originally from Slovakia. Dobro is also a Slavic word that means good.
Single cone, square neck instrument, I like the sound of vintage slide guitars.
Modeled using SketchUp, Wings3d, Poser, UV-Mapper; rendered in Bryce.

Impressive!!!!!!!!!!!!!I like the sound of these guitars. I play with 2 blues bands as harmonicist. Do you know Terry Garland? I have a CD cover photo where he plays on a Dobro.

I remember seeing some variety of these at the Experience Music Project in Seattle. They pretty much have a noteworthy collection on display along the lines of the guitar family, from some rare 1600's proto-guitar instruments to highly prized and valuable vintage electrics. It's surprising how much variety there is in the general design of that particular group of stringed instruments. (And if that's not enough, there's a great collection of sci-fi stuff on the other side of the museum. EMP is combined with the sci-fi musuem btw.)
