Description
Edwar of Kanbery, Male Granbretan Noble/Warrior (Non-Player Character)
A recurring character from a Hawkmoon campaign, a variant of the RPG Stormbringer, set in the “Tragic Millennium Earth” of Michael Moorcock’s novels.
H3-5 – I Am Not A Man:
“There is no way for the unmasked to leave Londra… no less Granbretan,” Edwar pleaded with Syn to except his fate; staying Tarl and Nykira’s hands as they hover with growing reluctance over the controls of the torture machines which held their former captures.
“Then what of the masked,” Syn inquired coldly, picking up Edwar’s gilded skull mask and holding it before the Granbretan nobleman’s eyes.
“Impersonating us will only lead you to death,” Edwar tried to reason with the Dragon Lord. “Your farce will be detected by the first Skull you encounter when you cannot speak our order’s language, and even if you evade detection, Skulls do not leave Granbretan.”
“All of their orders have a language known only to their members,” Tarl confirmed, beginning to lose faith in the twist of fate that had granted him freedom to die like a warrior… in glorious battle.
“Not all!” Nykira exclaimed, she too had begun to see their chances of escape fading, but now she had renewed hope. “The Falcon Legion… they have no secret language. They’re nothing but mercenaries and knaves who side with Granbretan for gold, blood and free-reign to rape and pillage their own.”
“Where can we find these Falcons?” Syn demanded of Edwar, dangling his mask before him as a lure.
“There is a house of Mink three blocks south,” Edwar replied, fixated on his mask and knowledge that, live or die, he would never wear it again.
“No father!” Lysabeth screamed, unable to believe he would betray his own kind like this. Then she looked to Syn, the alien who she had taken into her bed for the promise of a new science of sorcery. “You will fail! No matter where you claim to be from… no man escapes Granbretan!”
Syn turned to her with a sly smile, she still had not accepted what he was or from where he had come, and replied in a cold tone of superiority; “I am not a MAN… I am a Dragon Lord of Melnibone!”
Choosing to join the Skull order, which guard and question the prisoners of the Dark Empire, Edwar’s noble birth afforded him many privileges, including his choice of what unfortunates he would entertain himself and whether they lived as slaves of Granbretan or died. Considered weak and dandyish by the rank and file of his order, he maintained his envied position on his success at extracting useful information, with the aid of the depraved devised created by his sorcerer-scientist daughter, Lysabeth.
When Daeron Syn was cast on to the Tragic Millennium Earth, appearing before the King-Emperor’s palace in Londra, he was placed into Edwar’s care so that he and his daughter could learn the secrets of Syn’s sorcery. But despite their best efforts to win the Dragon Lord’s cooperation, the Lawful nature of the Tragic Millennium plane prevented Lysabeth from grasping the Chaotic concepts of sorcery. Believing that Syn was only feigning cooperation, Edwar tried to impress upon him what the Dark Empire’s normal hospitality was like by torturing a captured Norman noble-woman and warrior, Nykira Ammath, before him. However, his plan back-fired when Syn helped his prisoners turn the tables on him and Lysabeth, and fled Granbretan with Nykira and the Viking, Tarl Bloodhawk, leaving them at the mercy of their own mechanized torture devices.

You know my friend. I look, your warrior and "I do not believe a person can hide behind a mask and not to want it, force it generates. Power is a distinct elevation in the thrill of our requests. And supporting this worthy word must undergo the allegiance without taking offense. The authority does not support the weak ... But .... No relation to your story but just the masks ((5 + +)) Tu sais mon ami . Je regarde, ton guerrier et" Je ne croi pas qu'une personne puisse se cacher ,derrière un masque et ne point y vouloir ,la force qu'il engendre. Le pouvoir est une élévation bien distincte à l'ivresse de nos demandes . Et qui supporte ce digne mot doit y subir les allégences sans se vexer .Le pouvoir ne supporte pas la faiblesse... Mais bon .... Aucuns rapport à ta narration mais juste aux masques ((5++))
