Description

(ZOOM FOR DETAILS!) Thrum, thrum... A waterfall... Yes, the roaring of a waterfall, that must be it... Where had she heard a waterfall? Oh yes, when Galen proposed... Galen... Galen yelling "Help me... HELP ME!" Galen needed help? Why? She must ask him but she couldn't find him... Thrum, thrum... The roar of a fireball in a doorway... But, no, Bellikor had handled that hadn't he? So very strange... Thrum, thrum... Hmmm, maybe - a heartbeat? But whose heartbeat and why so loud? And voices... So faint... Were they really there... Did they exist? Try to open eyes... Are they open? Maybe - but everything looks so- odd. "How is she doing? Is she coming around?" Mubela peering at her through murky liquid. "Does she know we are here?" A white-bearded vision of Amikas swam beside her. "Her eyes have been fluttering like that for days. I doubt she is very aware yet, but perhaps these bouts are a positive sign." Thrum, thrum... Mubela-wisp nodded. "And the others?" Amikas-apparition pursed his lips. "I believe the Elf man will fully recover. The animal is also doing well, although he may not regain full sight in the injured eye." He raised his brows and stared at the floor with sad eyes. "If only I could have..." Mubela-ghost stopped him with a hand on his shoulder. Thrum, thrum... Mubela briefly glanced at her, and looked at the floor. "How soon... after she regains consciousness..." He sighed. "Even in perfect health, how... how to tell her?" He shrugged and closed weary eyes. "Soulless monsters... using him as some... grotesque... battle trophy..." Thick, palpable silence... Thrum, thrum... Mubela-spirit gently squeezed his shoulder. Then quietly, "Let me know if you see any changes in her condition." Thrum, thrum... There it is again, red swirling fog crowding in from the edges of vision, confusing her yet again... Here it comes, why is it always doing that? No! Not yet, not this time, she must make sense of this... this very odd dream. Maybe soon she will wake up... But the fog is SO insistent. Oh, very well. She will wake soon and tell Galen about this oh so very strange dream and they both will have a very good laugh about it... --- TO BE CONTINUED! View episodes in sequence for the entire story. Really excellent story, love the strong use of dialogue style. I cannot think of a better term than what Mike used, "gripping." One is left to wonder if it is the unborn child or Galen who is lost. An finely done graphic presentation too.

Wonderful image to go with this intense chapter. I am sad to know that when/if she recovers she will have so much pain to endure, learning of her loss.

Great Aranee-eye POV. Love the lighting and the story! PLEASE don't kill off Galen. After all they've been through, your characters deserve a happy ending.

Very, very well done, my friend. The story is gripping, all right, and foreshadows a tragic outcome we can only guess at. You tease! As usual, your masterful image fits the story perfectly. I hope that at least Aranée and the baby survive! Looking forward to the next installment in this excellent tale, albeit with some dread...
