Description

In the picture a very famous street full of shops and life. Behind me is the 'Arc de Triomphe and down in front of me, he sees the big wheel. In front of the wheel is the garden of the Louvre. A small clarification to say that they are not reckless enough to stand in a traffic jam (very intense), but they are placed behind one of the two traffic lights to cross. The Avenue des Champs-Élysées (literally Avenue of Champs Elysees) is one of the most majestic and wide boulevards of Paris. With its cinemas, cafés and luxury shops, the Champs-Élysées is one of the most famous streets in the world. The name refers to the Elysian Fields, the kingdom of the dead in Greek mythology. Description The avenue, continuation of the Rue de Rivoli, running for 1,910 yards through the eighth arrondissement in the north-west of Paris, Place de la Concorde in the east, with its obelisk, to the Place Charles de Gaulle (formerly Place de l 'Étoile) in the west, where is the arch of triumph, forming part of the axis line center. One of the main tourist destinations in Paris (there is headquartered in the cabaret Le Lido Palace Normandie), the lower part of the Champs-Élysées is bordered by greenery (Marigny Square) and buildings such as the Marigny Theatre and the Palais de la Découverte. Going up, you are aligned cinemas, theaters, cafes and restaurants (notably Fouquet's), shopping malls and luxury shops. History The Champs-Élysées were originally simple fields until 1616, when Marie de 'Medici decided to let you build a long-lined path. This path extending from the Louvre to the Tuileries. In 1724 the avenue was extended up to the Place de l'Étoile. Towards the end of the eighteenth century, had become a way fashion, where Queen Marie Antoinette strolled with her friends and took music lessons at the Grand Hôtel de Crillon. The Champs-Elysees became city property in 1828, and pedestrian walkways, fountains and gas lamps were added. Over the years, the avenue has undergone many changes, most recently in 1993, when the sidewalks were wid Events Every year on July 14, the largest French military parade passes down the Champs-Élysées, in the presence of the President of the Republic. The Champs-Élysées is also the traditional place for concluding the last stage of the Tour de France since 1975.
