Description

I flew from Chicago to Cleveland this morning and was greeted by this sight as we passed the edge of Lake Erie. It is almost difficult to distinguish between the land and lake as the lake is so frozen over. I found it so pretty. The ice accross the lake makes the wildest patterns - similar to what I saw and photographed in Chicago on Friday! Pretty cool stuff for a girl from Africa where ice is something in a tall drink and snow is almost non existant! Had a very busy week and have been to NYC, Philadelphia, Cincinnati, Columbus and Chicago this far. Yesterday I had the most amazing day with Chip and Corey and although we didn't walk around much and did very little Ninja stints because of the severe cold, we did talk and laugh a lot and caught up like old friends do! Thanks guys - you rock! Stay well all and one day soon I will be back commenting on all your wonderful work! I just need to get this trip behind me! Stay warm and well! Hugs Carin xx

Thank goodness it is mostly work or you'd have quite a lot of airline tickets to pay for:) This is a fascinating shot. I've never seen the patterns on these huge frozen lakes before.

Oh what a great shot. We had snow here again today. I am just about ready for spring, Chicago in spring is a bit more tolerable, they have some stunning gardens there but I am sure it was a bit to chilly for any of that, glad your trip is going well.. I am looking forward to seeing more from your journeys.

And the Meisiekind 2011 North American Tour continues! We call it a Winter Wonderland although I'm sure the folks in Chicago and Clevland are sick of it by now. We have ordered partly cloudy and dry weather for your visit to San Francisco. This is a fantastic image. I love the patterns.

Excellent shot The lake was at one time was so polluted parts of it caught on fire. Much better now. The pollution of our waterways became a national issue in June of 1969, the day that the Cuyahoga River, flowing through Cleveland, Ohio, on its way to Lake Erie, caught on fire because it was so polluted. Although this was not the first time that the Cuyahoga River had been in flames, the 1969 fire caught the attention of the nation and the fight began for increased water pollution controls, which eventually led to the Great Lakes Water Quality Act and Clean Water Act in the 1970s.
