Description

This time back to vintage "what if" spacecrafts (I really like this theme)! Convair Manned Lunar Reconnaissance Vehicle In 1958 inspired German-born rocket engineer Krafft Ehricke, working for Convair areospace company, designed a Manned Lunar Reconnaisance Vehicle. The design was popularised as an official scale plastic model by Strombecker in 1958. The Lunar Reconnaissance Vehicle was a fully powered spacecraft, one capable of leaving Earth's orbit. Its mission: To chart the lunar surface in preparation for a manned moon landing. This is my 3D replica of the original model kit box with the actual grapic layout and writings. I try to reproduce the original vintage feel and palette. I give you as a wallpaper gift in 1440x627, so open it in FULL-SIZE... I hope you like it! :) Rendered and modelled with custom textures in Bryce 7, postwork with Photoshop 7 and Dynamic-Photo HDR. The original file is 4000x1742 pixels. Superb job! I remember this well, because that little plexiglass canopy always made me laugh. You have certainly done justice to the original. Bravo, my friend!

This is really so cool. But would be better as a desktop without the lettering. : )

I built so many rocket models in the 60's growing up; a wonderful piece of nostalgia for me.
