Description

"Johanna of the Flame" they called her. Her gift had always defined who they saw her as. She lived a life of privilege and was well taken care of at the Blue Palace. Her "Gift", as they called it , was the ability to produce the "Flame of Herunda" and it was hereditary. Her Mother had been the Keeper before her and before that her Grandmother. It passed from Mother to Daughter and had been so for near 1000 years. In the Great book it told of her ancestors having the gift and even before the Ship her ancestors had been Keepers. Ah ... The Ship !! Before the Ship none had lived upon Solmar 2. The Great Book told of the journey from the Mother World and how her ancestors had made the journey in the Sleep Chambers (for it was also written that none could make the long voyage awake lest they die of age before even a small part of the trip from the Mother World to Solmar without growing old and dying, such was the far distances between worlds). Here in the dark of the forest she made the flame to lighten the way along the path from Telnis to the temple gates and into the sanctuary of the Blue Palace. Each night she made this very same walk in order to light the huge Burners that kept the Palace warm and well lit. Here along the path it not only kept the way lit, so as not to stumble or trip on the many vines or rocks along the way, but kept the somewhat dangerous beasts that inhabited the forest surrounding Telnis. The Frelniph and the Gralnar both called the forest home and would as soon eat her as the smaller Groolnem that was their main diet. At this point she was near enough to the gates that the Guardians of the Gate would keep travelers safe, had she not the flame itself to safeguard her approach. Even now she heard them announcing her approach. "Here she comes. The Keeper of the Flame approaches.."

Spent most of the night and all this morning working on this one.. A bit of insomnia crept up on me last night and couldn't bring myself to go to bed and just toss and turn all night so I did this instead. Nothing bothers me more than going to bed and not sleeping at all. It makes for a long, long night and I get up more tired than I was when I went to bed. Certainly more tired than had I got 2 or 3 hours of sleep. Hope you like this one as much I I like how it turned out. The blue is soothing on my eyes and seems to make me feel calm for some strange reason. I have always found blue to be a color that calms my nerves. For some it is one color or another that has this effect. For me it is blue. Anyway.. good morning to all (it is now 6AM here in California) and may your day be bright and may you find yourselves healthy, happy and fortune smiling upon you.. stay safe and peace to you..... gene

It is VERY blue but I think it works due to the fact that it is varied in shade and tone and that it is offset by the green in the background. It is very soothing to the eye.
