Description

Ultra Fractal 5.04. Layers = all the black lines and the lower left grey area. Without studying Mondriaan's work I suspect it has a strong underlying mathematical structure and I've attempted to give attention to such in this picture. The clue, of course, lies in the darkest of the three grey areas - the one in the centre. From this you should be able to gauge the proportions of most other elments in the picture, though I've deliberately avoided the image being absolutely square. As to the colours, I've little interest here in what Mondriaan might have chosen. Instead I've tried to make the various colours relate in tone and contrast to give harmony combined with a little liveliness. basically the picture is intended as a playful experiment, but I wonder if such a construction actually adds to the interest of the viewer? Oh yes, apart from the one grey, all the colours were added using Painter as it enabled me to more easily change them than would have been possible in UF. The two angled fill-ins might also have been more difficult in UF. Cliff.

Mondriaan didn't had interest in math at all. For him the balance between lines, planes, volumes and colors was the important thing. I've doubts if he should have appreciated this one. It's a funny experiment, but I don't think it has any relation to fractals.
