Description

Find it funny that giving an image a title can be a real head scratchier sometimes. Other times the cup overruns, like this image for instance. One such title being it's scientific name, "Juniperus commonis". This tree grows 7-20 meters in this arid desert and are an evergreen. This harsh and unforgiving environment brought another title to mind, "Resilience". More than likely a sand dune was here to allow this tree to flourish at one point in time. Lending to another title, "Shifting sands". Then one starts to think of whether the sand dune blew away and left the tree high and dry, or did the tree complete the cycle of life causing the sands to shift. Bringing to mind a long title, "Which came first, the dune or the Juniper?". In the end while uploading the image and not having chosen a title yet I input this title. Kind of like what happens when you go to market hungry and you just keep adding to the basket...lol A great weekend to all! To the kind souls that leave their mark whether a comment, rating, or save the image as a fav, you are very much appreciated, thank you!!! Thank you all that viewed my last image below. thumb_2161843.jpg

it looks like some alien creature rising up from the stone wash, ready to grab the first unwary person and animal that walks too closely to it

"Juniperus commonis". Grow to ca 20 meters height in this harsh desert. And then stand for 1000 years. And the die standing up. You have to show some respect! :)

Very nice tree texture. It will also look good on close-up as you might see some images on the groves as well. Great capture, Dana!

This tree has seen better days but still has a haunting beauty about it. I love all the titles you thought up for it too and they would all have suited it. A lovely dedication and capture.

Great work, I agree sometimes coming up with a title is more of a challenge then the photo. :) I've noticed some take the easy way out and number them.
