Description
A cromlech is a circle of standing stones.
As the megalithic monuments were built about 6000 years ago,in some places, where the coastline has eroded, some are partly underwater when the tide rises.
Thank you for viewing.
Have a great time.

Odile, my dear, this is an outstanding scene. Just amazing light coming from the side and the water rendered beautifully, but what gives it the realism is how you placed all the plantlife.. reeds and grasses around the standing stones. Absolutely wonderful work, again!

What baffles me about the ancients is how they were able to cut stones into those shapes in the first place, considering what they had to work with. Thanks for the vocabulary word. As for the picture, you've really captured the dignified, yet mysterious, mood of this place. Great work!

Great composition, Odile. The West Highlands and Islands of Scotland and the north east coast of Ireland are favourites of mine. They have always been somewhere I immediately would feel at home, and at one with people, landscape and history. As a child I got to explore the Glens of Antrim, and found many standing stones. The most obvious to even the tourist toiling upo the ungraded roads was the ruined Iron Age hill fort in my mother's cousin's land. This 3m high, 15m diameter 'cashel' was known as Altagore, which I believe meant 'place of the high goats'.. There was supposed to be an escape tunnel from it, coming out down near the burn, if I remember right. Warm regards, from a chilly Glasgow, John.

This scene rocks, Odile! :D The moonlight gives such a great mood to this landscape, water looks terrific and the concept of this scene with star sky is so beautiful... One question only - why is your logo always so tiny? Vashek
