This creature concept was done by Russ Manning in the '70s , in the "Magnus, robot fighter" comic series.

Beautiful and realistic render, also if I don't remember this creature in Magnus by Russ Manning... and I have almost all the numbers of '70s Magnus... :)

Now there's a nostalgic memory! As I recall, the alien had brought a gift of a huge, clumsy robot to Earth. That night, the robot proved a Trojan horse and released a flock of smaller deadly robots which could duplicate themselves. Magnus smashed them all, but it was poor planning by the aliens who should have allowed their attack robots to keep doubling undercover until even Magnus couldn't handle all of them.
