Description

This painting has had a strange life. It has been exhibited at the Royal Acadamy of Arts Summer Exhibition and the London Group Biannual Exhibition. These two instituitions profess to be diametrically opposed to each other in artistic outlook? It was selected for five other exhibitions but nobody can tell me why? I think I will keep it ! BTW. I always make my own frames as I think they are part and parcel to my whole intent and presentation. Oil / Canvase Oh! and one last thing! The title is... DREAMER

Hmmm. Interesting. There is something about it.... It's compelling. Maybe it is that the dreamer is painted in an entirely different style than the dream? Maybe not.

beautifully done.... the image speaks so softly yet has such an impact with the backround colors.I love the crackled touch to the figure. :)

I really like your contrasting techniques here, the dream seems to become more real than the dreamer, beautiful painting of the face & the crackling is a great effect.

WOW!!! I love this, I would keep it to. I like the flaking effect on the man and the background is out of this world. I wish I could make my own frames but I am not good with building things. You are the man! GREAT WORK it deserves a 10+ : )

The slight touch of arrogance in his lip is masterfully done, also the crackle finish around his body, neck and ear. He's crumbling into the dream, perhaps. Makes me think of the borders between reality, dreaming, consciousness. A wonderful work. It's well set off by your beautiful frame. smiling Fabulous!!

Visiting your worlds... I think this picture is explaining this even better! The painted frame seems to be an inseparable part of the whole composition... Love the colour harmony... Powerful work, Brendan!

I can't imagine how I've missed this before. You've imprinted something on my heart. A clear instance of where the gaze of the artist and the model interlock and shape each other. Are they the same?
