Description

Finally this year there was the opportunity to visit the archeological remains of Pompeii, Herculaneum and the Villa Oplontis. Fantastic! I'm sure everyone knows of the eruption of Vesuvius in AD79, which covered and preserved the cities. This wall painting is from the Villa Oplontis, a villa by the sea.reputedly owned by Poppea, a wife of Nero. its luxury was amazing, more than a 100 rooms. There is no post work on this upload! It was one of several shots i took of the paintings of birds and animals. really worth a trip to Naples...You can find more info on the web. Thank you for the comments on my post work efforts, which were very encouraging. Jean
