Description

Been busy with the job hunt and projects on hold around the house, so this took longer to churn out than planned. Continuing with my jaunt through the world of Eve On-line: Due to the location of material-rich asteroid fields in the New Caldari Prime System near planet #2 (Matias), the Caladari Federation set up a shipyard for their production of large scale vessels (heavy cruiser, battleship series, fleet carrier series and dreadnaught series). Asteroids are tugged into orbit where the shipyard is then lowered into place around the rock. Raw materials are then taken from the rock to produce the Caldari Navy ships and other space vessels. When the rock was mined out or even completely digested by the factories, a new rock was retrieved and the process started over again. In this image, a newly completed Belyea Class Stealth Dreadnaught and a Jubilee Class Starliner depart for their shakedown cruises. The dock elements are held in place by gravity wave resonance with the desired wavelength holding the space between spans consistent. When a ship is complete, the span "scissors" open to allow the ship adequate clearance to exit the dock using station keeping thrusters. The dock then reduces itself back to the "work platform" configuration when ready to start a new vessel. Asteroids by me. Surfaces are NASA images of the Moon's surface and Ganymede's surface. Background starfield, nebula, and planet are from Flaming Pear. New Caldari Prime star is from Diard's Universe. Spacedock created in Inspire 3D (I3D) Modeler. Dreadnaught and Starliner also created in I3D Modeler. Rendered in I3D. T4V&C

Very nice composition and excellent presentation. Your work gets better with every post. I also like the fact that you are giving the viewer larger images so as to be able to discern all of the detail of your modeling work. Keep them coming. Cheers, David

That looks really good! I like the wide sweeping vista, the ships look awesome, and the sense of the massive scale is quite breath-taking!
