Description

Recently I have been going out with a bag hide and found a spot where I can also sit in my car with a new Bean bag that takes a gimbal head. This unobtrusive method allows me to get close. They are now getting very common not always the case, and saw 5 or 6 in one place.. Not that common as Buzzards do not normally form flocks, but several may be seen together on migration or in good habitat. It breeds in woodlands, usually on the fringes, but favours hunting over open land. It eats mainly small mammals, and will come to carrion. A great opportunist, it adapts well to a varied diet of pheasant, rabbit, other small mammals to medium mammals, snakes and lizards, and can often be seen walking over recently ploughed fields looking for worms and insects. The birds have incredible strength and are therefore able to pick up food of all weights.

Saw quite a few buzzards when I was living in Wales but never managed to get any inflight pics. Great capture Danny and very dramatic looking with the angle!

Every time I go out without my 600 I see one of these. Every time I go out with my 600 I see none of these. I think they know. Jealous!

I'm surprised at how thick and compact the neck is on these birds. Not what I would normally think of as a buzzard. Outstanding job, Danny.

what you call buzzards in Britain is different than what we call buzzards here, aren't they? i love the shapes you capture with the different wing poses of your subjects.
