Description

This is my rather loose visual interpretation of some lyrics from another old 70's song. I'm not sure that I've succeeded in creating the kind of coffee club atmosphere I was looking for though. You know, the kind of smokey, dingey, dimly lit place with mis-matched furniture where everyone would snap their fingers instead of clapping after hearing another beat poet's latest terrible, but extremely hip musings. Maybe it's too bright... lol. "Carol" by Al Stewart... I left out the chorus' until the end of them for easier reading. "Sometimes it seems unimaginable that you were ever any other way with your white rose face and your orphan clothes, embroidered jeans and silver chains You're a well known face in all the hangout places where the lost souls congregate You sit all night but you talk too fast, I don't know what you're trying to say I know your Daddy said he'd talk to you but he never really found the time and your TV mother with her cocktail eyes could never really reach your mind So you fixed your star to a passing dream and took a cocaine holiday Now the years flow round you in a muddy stream, you need another place to stay Well sometimes it seems impossible that the game could get that rough But the stage is set, the exits barred and the makeup won't come off So you make your vow to bow to me, you light another cigarette And the lights grow dim as the music starts and it's easy to forget Oh Carol, I think it's time for running for cover, ah-ha Believe me, you're everyone's and nobody's lover, ah-ha You've got a one-way ticket to all your yesterdays Reach down silvery ship from the stars, I know you're there I know you'll understand me, you can take me anywhere... I know you must be there" CREDITS: V4 with Thornework's 'Anarani' mats; Aery Soul's 'Whimsy Curls' hair under the 20's hat from StudioArtVartanian's recent freebie 'Hat Collection'; 'B25SteamPunk' blouse; 'Flower Power' jeans; Bossy Boots 'Sensible Shoes'. Set is a hodge-podge of things ~ walls from NikeImage's 'Art Corner'; chair from 'The Paragon'; floor, table and cloth from DM's 'Dream Art'; ashtray and butts in it from Ratracer's 'Film Noir Detective Office'; "art" from 'Apartment 39' and the table lamp from the 'NYC Apartment' set. Her cig is a freebie from 3-D-C and the smoke pall is one of Jepe's 'SteamZ' flipped upside-down. My lighting. I changed the character so many times (18 test renders) that I lost track once again as to what all I used morph-wise to try and get that "white rose face" look. Sorry. :( Thanks for looking...

18 test renders, OMG! I will never go that far and still stay sane LOL! You did an amazing work, sometimes a simple scene such as this will just "wow" the viewer. You have captured it so well, the right mood and atmosphere, so perfectly done.

I'd rather think of Neil Sedaka's Carol "oh ! Carol, I'm but a fool, drarling I love you though you treat me cruel..." I would die for such a beautiful girl...fabulous lighting (but she should quit smoking, lol !).
