Description

Just a bit of messing around with some stuff I've downloaded lately.... The ships are 3ds (studio 3D) files imported into Poser. I added the black stealth paint scheme to the fighter in the foreground (forespace?) and then duplicated the ship for the other spaceships. The background is a combination of fiddling with Photoshop brushes, and an Apo render for the wormhole effect. I added a bit of exhaust glow (I know it wouldn't actually be visible in space, but I'm using artistic license, here! LOL!), and a little motion blur. Hope you enjoy it! I'm running a bit behind on comments, but I'll get caught up later today! Hope you all have a great weekend, and as always thanks for all the great comments, faves and support!

Are those refueling probes Rod...If so, each ship muct be a Mk IV since the first three weren't capable of refueling while airborne. Bet you didn't know that! Just leave it to us flying junkies to have all the details. Lol. Neat render sir!

Cool effects! And if the drive is an ion-plasma drive, some glowing 'exhaust' would be visible as a glowing jet, as it is ionized superheated plasma coming out the arse end as thrust. Holy crap I don't believe I said that. (I've been awake for 3 days straight) I'm wondering if I spend too much time on the NASA and JPL websites?

Fantastic work, Rod! Looks great - compared to the artistic license taken by producers and directors in movies, you rock

WOOOOOOOOOW Rod! Being a BIG TIME Star Trek, Star Wars and all around sci-fi fanatic, you KNOW I LOVE this one! Superb work on that star field and worm hole! Those ships are really COOL! With the dipping wings and longish neck and head-like cockpit, they look kind of Klingon or Romulan-ish. I don't know ... would the glow of the exhaust not really be visible in space? If so, I guess I didn't know that. I have long been wanting to do a space scene. I have LOADS of different types of spaceships - most of them freebies - but I have never been able to create a star field like this one you did here. I found a tutorial at a website but it was not very coherent and I failed to get the end result I was supposed to get from it. SUPERB work on this as usual buddy!

That's really cool work, I like what you did with the background! As for the engine glow, actually I think you'd probably see something. Even Ion-drives are expelling rather hot gases which are typically glowing. (Check out NASA's website for pictures of the ion drive they used with the "Deep Impact" probe for reference) and if you start incorporating the more exotic drives like VASIMR and such, then you're talking about super-heated plasma, glowing really brightly! At any rate, those ships are super cool, I can see why you'd have fun playing with them! Nice work.
