The images I have chosen to show on Renderosity are just a small sample of my 2D vector and 3D CGI artwork. Interested viewers are invited to also visit my personal website: http://www.dcmstarships.com BIO I enjoy creating original designs of speculative starships, space stations, and futuristic architecture. I started out using TrueSpace for 3D modeling and rendering. Now, I use Rhino5 for 3D modeling and rendering. 2D touch up work on my images is done with Corel Draw and Corel Photo-Paint. For backgrounds, I have used Hubble Space Telescope photos, Universe Image Creator, Lunar Cell and various Photoshop tools provided by fellow Renderosity artists. In addition to making my own artwork, I enjoy reviewing the work of other 3D CGI artists, especially those also doing spaceships. I try to support my fellow Renderosity artists by making supportive comments on those images that catch my eye. I like to buy science fiction themed 3D CGI parts and custom photoshop brushes from the Renderosity Marketplace as another way to support my fellow artists.

How dry is that dock? I liked the previous dock better. This one doesn't seem very functional?

This drydock is a more conceptual vision from an era with much higher star-faring technology than that of Starship Inquiry. It might be better to think of this structure as a deep space factory that forms spaceship hulls using methods far beyond bolting metal plates to a steel framework.

Dave, what you say maybe so but we need a point of reference to work from. I have to agree with geirle, it does not seem very functional but I also know that you are describing something that is at least 200 years in the future. Things could be quite different by then. Dave I am a big fan of your work so I appreciate your concepts and designs. Maybe a close up view of what is actually taking place would help clarify what you are trying to depict. All the best, David

The drydock in from an era over 1000 years in the future. It uses gravity beams, the ball-like objects, to manipulate objects, and forms hull shells via controlled force fields emitted from the solar panel-like structure. Obviously, we are seeing the vessel right after "construction" is completed. Imagine how advanced alien ships from an Arthur C. Clarke novel may create their ships instead of the very traditional drydock scenes we are all used to from "Star Trek" and other well-known SF visual media. The concept is difficult to portray as a static image; I appreciate my fans' patience as I attempt to explain it.
