Sarah knew her situation could be worse. While she was a captive, she was also protected from the dangers of the world like raiders and mutated beings, and her basic needs like food and shelter were provided. Ashley, her tattooed owner, was not abusive, and while strict, Ashley did not physically hurt her, which was not the case of most other slavers, especially the males, or the half-crazy ones, those that were barely human anymore, being affected by the radiation. The strong girl that had captured her, and had decided to keep her instead of selling her to the trading caravans, had often surprised her with how fierce and skilled she was. Still, Sarah was nothing more than property now, and was likely to spend the rest of her life in this slavers outpost. After the end of the world, after the bombs fell, she now realized how she hadn’t had any real chance. Barely starting her very first job as a secretary, she had known nothing of survival, even less of using weapons to defend herself. She was the complete opposite of Ashley, and she often told herself that this is just how things should be, the strong leading the weak, and that she was fortunate to have been found by this demanding yet affectionate girl.
