Description

There once was a house from 1780 here.. 128 years later they build a new one.. that is now 103 years old.. fun... Before 1780 there must have been a house created around 1612. So this is the 3rd house on this spot. Fun... it saw so many changes... but it still stands at a nice canal... This year my boat tours will (also) start in front of this building. It is now a restaurant (Spanish) ="Tapas y Restaurante".. The sand you see on the left is where cityplanners had a little Skyscraper in mind.. They broke down some anno-1915 houses (not so beautiful anymore) but than the Crisis came and nobody wanted to pay for the Sky scraper.. so we have a little beach at the Canal.. grin

So different then here. We have some old buildings, (maybe 100 years old at best) that were beautiful, but they were left to detiorate, and presevationists alway lose, what were beautiful buildings get torn down, and ugly boxes get erected in their place. Holland and most of Europe seems to preserve the beautiful old buildings, there seems to be much more interest in history, heritage, and art.
