Description

With Calgary getting a record snowfall for February I thought it would be nice to revisit a holiday to the Big Island of Hawaii (too many) years ago. I think that particular beach was destroyed during the last volcanic eruption there but I can still hear the crunch of that black sand.

The thing about Hawaii is that the volcanoes are constantly making new beaches! How cool is that? I love this shot and the dreamy quality of it. The mood is fantastic, and the black sand is superbly captured here. I like the human focus and the softness of the edges. Those soft edges are where the dreamy bit comes in. This is great.

I have heard it also hurts the feet - but oh how beautiful. Great get-away shot.
